Corash Designs booked two tickets for the Robots exhibition in London. In there we discovered the 500 year history and progress over time from mechanical machine to near human form.
Robot invention started with people’s religious faith and their strive to recreate humans bodies. Over the time the Industrial Revolution took over and many jobs were replaced by machines that could do a job faster and heavy duties easier. The exhibition presents an imagined world through the eyes of scientists, engineers, film makers, authors and animators.
By trying to build a robot that resembles the human body we are discovering how complex we all are. The next step in modern world is building “social robots” who can communicate with us and mimic our gestures.
Corash Designs is interested in robots but mostly the very first ones. Hence, we imagined to be back in 16th century when the mechanical watches evolved and we decided to use them in a few creative ways.
The mechanical watch developed from the 16th century to the mid 20th century. The fascinating devices are powered by winding tension onto the mainspring which turns gears and moves the hands, this keeps time with a rotating balance wheel.
We found these non functional mechanical watches at an antiques market in Leek, Staffordshire at a very affordable price that required no negotiation.
